"It is of utmost importance to us that we provide up-to-date information about Nutro's products given the ongoing flurry of information regarding the Menu Foods' recall," said Dave Kravis President and CEO of Nutro Products. "There has been a lot of speculation and confusion. We want to clear up any misinformation that has been circulated. Most importantly, we want our customers to know that they can and should feel absolutely safe feeding any Nutro pet foods currently on store shelves to their pets. We also want them to know that if they have any questions or concerns, they should contact us directly. We have added additional customer service representatives to respond to calls and emails we've received since Menu Foods announced its recall. We are committed to responding to each and every customer's questions."
On Friday, March 30, 2007, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it detected the compound melamine in samples of Menu Foods' recalled pet food products. In addition the FDA indicated that the substance had been detected in wheat gluten sourced from a Chinese manufacturing company. Wheat gluten is an ingredient that had been used in the recalled pet food. Since the FDA's announcement regarding melamine and the Chinese wheat gluten, some pet food companies have recalled additional products. All Nutro pet foods currently on store shelves are safe to feed pets. Importantly, no Nutro dry pet foods contain wheat gluten.
Nutro's products are 100% guaranteed and all returned product will be refunded. Nutro customers who feel a Nutro product in any way contributed to the illness or death of their pet(s) should contact the company's Consumer Services Department at 800-833-5330 and provide the information requested. These requests will be resolved as quickly as possible. Detailed information is also available on our website at (www.nutroproducts.com).
