| Menu Foods Does Not Manufacture Any Nutro Dry Food Products |
| Pasadena Humane Society says: “we have complete confidence in Nutro” |
City of Industry, Calif. (March 29, 2007) – As The Food and Drug Administration and other health agencies continue to work to determine the cause of Menu Foods’ wet pet food recall, Nutro Products is reassuring its customers that Nutro’s dry pet foods, biscuits and treats – over 90% of the pet food Nutro sells – are not involved in the recall and remain safe for pets to eat.
“My family and I, along with other Nutro executives and our employees, are continuing to feed these dry products to our own pets because we are confident in their safety,” said Dave Kravis President and CEO of Nutro Products. “None of our dry products are manufactured by Menu Foods and are therefore unaffected by the Menu Foods recall.”
The FDA has made it clear that the Menu Foods wet pet food recall does not include any dry pet food products. Dr. Steven Sundloff of The FDA has said, “Pet owners should continue to buy products outside the recall.” Sundloff went on to say that pet owners should “feel confident” in feeding these products to their pets. According to the Pet Food Institute, the wet pet food recall involves about one percent of pet food sold in the U.S.
“We have been feeding Nutro’s dry foods to the animals at our shelter and we have absolutely no plans to change that,” said Ricky Whitman, vice president of community resources, Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA. “We have been feeding Nutro foods to our animals for years and we have complete confidence in Nutro when they tell us their dry food products are 100 percent safe to feed pets.”
