Verify your food is affected within “What food is affected?” page
We encourage consumers who believe they have purchased affected product to immediately discontinue feeding the product to their cat, and switch to another product with a balanced nutritional profile.
Consumers return to their retailer exchange for another NUTRO® dry cat food product or a full refund.
For cat owners who purchased the affected product, we recommend the following alternatives prior to good product being back on shelf.
These alternates are intended to be fed on a short-term basis until we have replenished the shelves with new product. We kept the recommendations as consistent by lifestage and main protein source as possible. (i.e. kitten products have an alternate kitten product suggestion, chicken varieties have an alternative chicken variety suggestion). Please be assured that these alternatives are safe and are the best choices to feed until we can replenish the shelves with new product.
In some instances, in order to keep lifestage and main protein source consistent, the recommendation may involve a switch from an indoor formula to an original formula or from an original formula to an indoor formula. One of the main differences between these types of foods is that the indoor formulas have reduced calorie levels and/or reduced fat levels which should not affect pets in the short term. Our main purpose with the recommendations was to keep the protein source and lifestage consistent to affect these cats and their owners as little as possible.
Additionally, cat owners should monitor their cat for symptoms, including a reduction in appetite or refusal of food, weight loss, vomiting or diarrhea. If your cat is experiencing health issues, please see your Veterinarian.
We have had no reports of illnesses in any cats to date.
