I know that our pets are treasured members of our families. I know that Joey, our dog, is a treasured member of my family, and I am sincerely sorry for the Bobb family’s loss of their cherished dog.
The importance of pets to all families is why Nutro has been committed to ensuring their health and well being—for 75 years—and we remain committed to that important goal during this Menu Foods’ recall.
As President and CEO, I ordered the recall of specific wet pet food products manufactured for Nutro by Menu Foods. I expanded the wet pet food recall beyond what was initially suggested by Menu Foods to further protect our customers’ pets.
As Nutro has always done, we will treat our customers fairly and with compassion. Those, like the Bobb family, that have suffered through an illness or death of their pet and feel a Nutro product in any way contributed to that illness or death, should contact us directly through our Consumer Services Department at 800-833-5330. These requests will be resolved as quickly as possible and we apologize for any delays our customers may be experiencing when contacting us. We have added additional team members so that we can increase our one on one contact with our customers.
Also, it is simply unacceptable that all this has happened and we are preparing to implement additional guidelines that will ensure that the quality control measures used by our co-manufacturers and their suppliers are strengthened so that this deeply troubling situation never happens again.
I do want the public to know that Nutro’s dry foods, biscuits and treats—over 90% of the pet food we sell—are NOT manufactured by Menu Foods and are not involved in this recall.
Again, please accept my condolences to the Bobb family on the loss of their cherished dog. |
