Question: What are the natural flavors in your food?
Answer: This is part of our formula and is proprietary information in our NUTRO™ natural dog food and cat food.
Question: How is your NUTRO® natural dog food and cat food cooked?
Answer: We extrude all our kibble, which is similar to a baking process.
Question: Does your NUTRO® natural dog food and cat food contain chemical preservatives?
Answer: No, our foods are naturally preserved with Vitamin E. We never use chemicals like BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin, propyl gallate or sodium hexametaphosphate in NUTRO® natural dog food and cat food.
Question: Have MAX® DOG and MAX® CAT food formulas changed?
Answer: MAX® DOG and MAX® CAT foods have been improved with the addition of more chicken and/or salmon. MAX® CAT food’s new smaller kibble greatly increases the palatability in comparison to the previous larger kibble. We have found that dogs and cats prefer the enhanced products, and Nutro Products has maintained the performance characteristics that MAX® brand pet owners are accustomed to. As always, MAX® products do not utilize chicken heads, feet, or intestines, which may be found in products that use chicken by-product meal.
Why are MAX® Large Breed Puppy and MAX® Large Breed Adult dog food now made with chicken instead of beef?
Answer: Preference testing has shown that dogs prefer the taste of the chicken product. However, we have heard from many loyal Nutro Products consumers that their dogs loved the beef meal-based products and we will be re-introducing MAX® Large Breed Puppy and MAX® Large Breed Adult dog food in their former beef meal based formulations in late June 2009
